REPORT: WILDWOOD COPS SAY MOTEL OWNER KNEW ABOUT DRUGS

Wildwood Police say the owner of the Gillmore Motel in the city knew about narcotics use in the building.  The Wildwood Leader reports that 43 year old Robert Grimley of Palermo operated the Gillmore Motel with full knowledge that drug activity was occurring inside.  Grimley was charged on August 14th with maintaining a nuisance.  Police say this year there have been nearly 70 calls for service to the property, most of them being drug related.

VINELAND MAYOR RECALL EFFORT DOES NOT SUCCEED

ruben bermudezAn effort to call for the recall of Vineland Mayor Ruben Bermudez has failed for now.  A deadline arrived late Tuesday afternoon for recall petitions to be submitted to the city clerk’s office, and they never arrived.  Bermudez continues to decline any comment on the recall attempt.  The recall needed nearly 9,500 signatures on a petition, and it never materialized.

CHRISTIE: ISSUES IN ATLANTIC CITY NOT A DISASTER

gov_christieGovernor Chris Christie took his “No Pain, No Gain” summer tour of the Garden state to Long Branch on Tuesday and refused to call the casino shutdowns in Atlantic City a disaster.  Christie says the city simply has to change into a full service resort town without a complete focus on casino gaming.  Christie promises to work in order to get employment for many of the casino workers who will be soon out of work.

TWO PA RESIDENTS NAILED WITH STEALING BIKES IN STONE HARBOR

Two individuals in their 50s have been charged with stealing bicycles in Stone Harbor.  Police say they arrested 52 year old Donna Daniels and 54 year old Marc Seidman on charges that they allegedly stole bikes in the community in late July on two separate occasions.  Police have charged with both one count of receiving stolen property, and other offenses.

LOWER TOWNSHIP COPS REPORTING FRAUD SCHEMES

lower twpLower Township Police are warning residents about a telephone fraud scheme that has been occurring in the community.  Police say an individual with a foreign accent is calling residents claiming he is with the IRS; the caller demands money and threatens an arrest unless payment is made.   Police are telling the public these schemes are all frauds and if you are contact, contact local police immediately.

INDICTMENT HANDED UP AGAINST FORMER CUMBERLAND GOP HEAD

Bob GrecoThe former head of the Cumberland County Republican Party has been formally indicted by a Cape May County Grand Jury on charges that he allegedly defrauded a patient at his nursing home facility.  Bob Greco has been slapped with various charges after he allegedly took $149,000 from a patient after becoming power of attorney.  Greco is the owner and administrator of the East Creek Manor Rehabilitation Center.

COAST GUARD SAVES BOATERS ADRIFT IN SAILBOAT

Search_and_Rescue_Program_Logo_of_the_United_States_Coast_GuardThe United States Coast Guard assisted with some boaters on a sailboat that was drifting more than 70 miles off the coast of Cape May on Monday.  A 67 year old man and a 62 year old woman were stuck on the sailboat because there was no wind to keep their sailboat moving.  The Coast Guard dispatched the “Mako” to assist and deliver fuel to the sailboat so it could get into port safely.  There were no injuries.

CHRISTIE CALLS OUT WOMAN OVER CRITICISM OF BOSS MUSIC

Pension and Heatlth Benefit CommissionNew Jersey Chris Christie got into a war of words with a New Jersey woman over Bruce Springsteeen music.  Christie used Springsteen music to make an entrance at an event in Long Branch, and Sandy Booket called the governor out on his choice of music since Springsteen is a liberal, and Christie, a conservative.  Christie told Booket she was wrong, and he spoke with Springsteen personally and both agreed to disagree over politics.  Following Hurricane Sandy, Christie and Springsteen put political differences aside and became friends.

FORMER EAGLE COBB, CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE, SLAMMED

garry-cobbFormer Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Gary Cobb is running for Congress as a republican in the First Congressional District…and on Tuesday he was promptly slammed by democrats in that district.  Democrats held a media event at a diner in Cherry Hill to attack Cobb for various media appearances and comments he’s made about democrats.  Cobb recently criticized government programs that came from the Lyndon Johnson administration.

FUGITIVE ARRESTED IN WILDWOOD CREST

WildwoodCrestPoliceLogoA man wanted for graft theft larceny out of Florida and a violation of probation in Pennsylvania was taken into custody Monday. Police arrested David Shaw at 3:15 p.m. Shaw was arrested for driving while intoxicated and hindering his own apprehension, among other violations. He is awaiting extradition.
