SWEENEY SAYS HE WOULD CONSIDER SOME MERIT PAY REFORMS

A new report says a high ranking lawmaker said he would consider merit pay for New Jersey schools, but only if the schools were the ones rewarded. Senate President Steve Sweeney told the AP that he doesn’t like Gov. Chris Christie’s plan that would give the benefit to the teachers. Sweeney says he doesn’t want to see politics play a role into who gets a bonus and who doesn’t. Christie has called for reforms in the education field, but Democrats have yet to budge on this issue.
