POLL: STATE BUDGET IS SERIOUS PROBLEM, DON’T RAISE GAS TAX

A new poll says the state has a serious budget problem. A Quinnipiac University poll shows that 87 percent of the state describes the state’s budget problems as “very serious” or “somewhat serious.” The other hot button topic was the gas tax. In total, 65 percent say the gas tax shouldn’t be increased. Some lawmakers would like to see the tax increased to pay for transportation projects. A majority also would like to see services cut before taxes are raised.
