MARIJUANA PLANTS FOUND GROWING IN LOWER TOWNSHIP

On September 23rd, at approximately 2:30 p.m. the Lower Township Police Department received an anonymous report of large Marijuana Plants being grown in the backyard of a residence in the 100 block of Spruce Avenue in the township’s Villas Section.

S/O Michael Kennedy responded to the area. The officer was then able to take up a position where he could view the back yard of the home in question and was able to observe in plain view, four (4) large Marijuana Plants, each approximately four (4) feet tall, being grown in separate buckets.

After further investigation, the homeowner, identified as Dennis J. Basse, age 58, of the 100 Block of Spruce Avenue, Villas, New Jersey, was arrested and transported to Lower Township Police Department where he was charged with growing and/or manufacturing Marijuana, being a 3rd Degree crime.

Basse was released on a summons with a court date.

The Lower Township Police Department confiscated the Marijuana Plants and turned them over to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Evidence Unit.
