LOWER TOWNSHIP WATER SUPPLY PROJECT IN JEOPARDY

Plans to bring water to nearly 3,000 homes in the Town Bank section of Lower Township could be put on hold by the NJ State Department of Environmental Protection. The $12 million project to supply public water needs DEP approval to allocate more water than the current quota of 93 million gallons per month. The state agency says that saltwater intrusion was increasing faster than earlier predictions and could limit the pumping of fresh water wells for public usage.
