LAYOFFS TO TAKE PLACE IN ATLANTIC CITY

No deal could be reached and layoffs will take place in Atlantic City. City and union leaders had until Wednesday to strike a deal to stave off the layoffs. In total, 93 people are going to be let go by the city. A majority of the employees are going to be police and fireman, which account for 70 of the 93. Those layoffs will take effect today. The move is expected to save the city $1.3 million.
