FOUR NJ MEN BUSTED IN KIDDIE PORN STING

Four Ocean County men have been arrested and charged in an online child pornography sting operation.  Authorities say the four men were all found with child pornography on their computers; one suspect had several hundred movie files featuring child pornography.   Three of the four men were hauled off to the Ocean County Jail; the fourth was released on a summons.

    LOCAL OFFICIALS MEET WITH NJDEP OVER DREDGING ISSUES

    Marie HayesCape May County took a unified message to Trenton last week to talk about dredging issues that affect our entire region.  Freeholder Marie Hayes announced that she had a meeting with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin who listened carefully to issues that suspend or prevent dredging projects.  One of the big issues is the winter flounder season that shuts down dredging for the first five months of every year.  Fishermen say there are no winter flounder to be caught anyway.

      END OF AN ERA: NBC40 LOSES NETWORK AFFILIATION

      NBC40 logoSouth Jersey will no longer have a network television station at the end of the year.  NBC has informed NBC40 that it will be ending its network affiliation at the end of 2014.  There have been widespread rumors about the television station going dark soon after a recent acquisition.    The end of the network affiliation was reported by the Press of Atlantic City.  NBC40 is New Jersey’s only NBC affiliate.

        WILDWOOD MAN CHARGED WITH PUNCHING COP IN THE FACE

        A 21 year old Wildwood man has been arrested and charged with punching a Lower Township Police officer in the face on Tuesday evening.  Police say it happened while 21 year old Alexander Vosper was having an argument with another man on Desoto Avenue in the Villas.  Police allege that Vosper clenched his fist and punched Special Officer James Collins in the face. Vosper was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.

          CORRECTIONS OFFICERS CAUGHT SUPPLYING CONTRABAND

          Five people were arrested in a plot that brought contraband into the Cumberland County Jail. The Prosecutor’s Office there said that Joshua Minguela was arrested on official misconduct charges. Four others were arrested for the conspiracy to provide prescription drugs and money to Minguela to smuggle the contraband into the jail. Item Minguela brought in included tobacco, marijuana, and vitamin supplements.

            COURT HOUSE MAN CHARGED WITH OFFERING BRIBE

            Anthony-ChristaldiAn elderly man from Cape May Court House is accused of offering a bribe to the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority to get a higher purchase price from the agency on property that he owns.  69 year old Anthony Christaldi of Cape May Court House has been indicted by a grand jury on a charge of second degree bribery.  Christaldi allegedly paid a $10,000 bribe to an official who handles real estate transactions.  He could face between five to ten years behind bars, if convicted.

              CHRISTIE SAYS HE IS “PRO-LIFE ALL THE WAY”

              Gov. Chris Christie appeared with former Gov. Jim McGreevey in Jersey City to address a prisoner re-entry conference. Christie said he is pro-life, but that pro-life doesn’t stop at the point of conception. Pro-life needs to be something you believe in “all the way,” and noted he believes treatment can help many over jail. This is not the first time Christie and McGreevey have joined forces on these issues. McGreevey works with prisoners to help rehabilitate their lives.

                FEW APPROVE OF RAISING GAS TAX IN THE STATE

                Two out of every three people in the state don’t support hiking the gas tax in the state. Some lawmakers want to see the gas tax increased to help pay for transportation projects. Despite being heavily taxed in most areas, the state maintains one of the lowest gas taxes in the country. The poll data was made public by Rutgers-Eagleton.
