BLOCK PARTY SET IN WILDWOOD THIS WEEKEND

An annual tradition is back in Wildwood. This Labor Day will feature the Wildwoods Block Party. Entertainment line-up includes Chubby Checker, The Trammps, Charlie Gracie, Jeremiah Hunter Band, The Blue Notes, Beatlemania, 45-RPM, Just In Time, and Bitter Sweet at Fox Park on Sunday from noon to 8 pm. The event will include games, crafts, food, merchandise vendors.

TRUMP PLAZA SAYS BEACH BAR CLOSING FOR GOOD

A major beach bar in Atlantic City claims it is closing its doors. The Beach Bar at Trump Plaza is allegedly going to finish this summer and it will be their last. A spokesman for Trump said that the competition from Revel and Resorts opening non-union beach bars will make it impossible to compete with. If it holds true, the final day will be Sept. 16.

MURDER/SUICIDE INVESTIGATION ON-GOING

A possible murder/suicide is being investigated in Laurel Lakes. The New Jersey State Police and Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating. Scott and Stacey Rector were found dead inside of their home on Wednesday after Scott was found by a coworker after he didn’t show up to work for a week. A suicide note was found and the families two dogs were dead as well. An investigation is continuing into the incident.

POLICE STEPPING UP PATROLS THIS WEEKEND

Be on your best behavior this weekend on the roads. The State Police are among the departments will stepped up patrols. Labor Day is a big party weekend and police want to ensure the roads are as safe as possible. Police will be especially looking for drunk driving. Authorities encourage those who drink to take a cab or use a designated driver.

WILDWOOD BACK IN SCHOOL, MOST NEXT WEEK

It was back to school in Wildwood on Thursday. The school implemented an earlier start because of years with bad weather that forced school to run until the end of June. School Superintendents Dennis Anderson said Wildwood began to go back early in order to create a buffer in case of a nasty winter. Anderson said Thursday and Friday this week were both half days.

PILOT PRONOUNCED DEAD FROM MILLVILLE PLANE CRASH

One of the two people involved in a scary plane crash in Millville has died. Ronald E. Lecates was the pilot in the plane that did not land properly on Wednesday. Lecates was pronounced dead on Thursday morning. The plane bounced during landing and ended up flipping. A second unidentified man remains at the AtlantiCare Medical Center for treatment.

JERSEY SHORE TV SHOW CANCELLED

Many in New Jersey will be happy. The TV show “Jersey Shore” is being cancelled. The show will air its final season this summer before coming to an end. Salary demands and personal changes, including star “Snooki’s” new baby were responsible for the decision. This season is the sixth and final.

CHRISTIE GETS HIGH PRAISE FROM SPEECH

Apparently Gov. Chris Christian did a good job. The state’s highest ranking official said he got an email from Mort Romney congratulating him and thanking him for his keynote speech at the Republicans National Convention. Christie said they only thing he would fixed is slowing Dow his delivery, especially towards the end of the speech.
