IF SALARY FREEZE IS AGREED, CHRISTIE PROVIDING ADDITIONAL AID TO SCHOOLS

225px-ChChristieGov. Chris Christie is offering more state aid to school districts that agree to a salary freeze. The money is coming from Social Security and Medicare payroll taxes that the state doesn’t have to pay because of the salary freeze. The taxes combine for 7.65 percent of entire payroll. For every $100,000 saved through a potential freeze, a school district would receive $7,650 in savings. This decision would need to be approved by both houses in Trenton. Any freeze would need to be agreed upon by the unions and the district together. Christie said the money would revert to the general fund if no change was made.
